Welcome to Zua. We build an AI-powered Family Assistant designed to make parenting and family management easier. Zua is available via our website, Android application, and iOS application (collectively, the “Services”).

At Zua, we believe that your family’s data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

1. Our Core Privacy Promise

Before detailing the legal specifics, we want to be clear about our core principles:

  • No Secondary Use: We do not use your family’s data for advertising, marketing, or training public AI models. Your data is used strictly to provide the Zua assistant functions to you.
  • Parental Control: You own your data. You have granular control to delete specific interactions or wipe your account entirely.
  • Data Residency: Your data is stored in the region where you reside (US or EU) to ensure compliance with local regulations.

2. Information We Collect

To provide a helpful AI assistant, we collect specific types of information. We only process data that you voluntarily provide or authorize.

A. Account Information

When you sign up, we collect:

  • Parent/Guardian Name and Email Address.
  • Subscription/Payment information (processed securely by our payment processor, we do not store credit card details).

B. Family Data (Input Data)

To allow Zua to assist your family, you may input data regarding family members, including children. This may include:

  • Family Profile: Names or nicknames of family members, ages, and preferences.
  • AI Interactions: Text or voice commands you give to Zua (e.g., “Remind [Child Name] to take their lunch,” or “Help me plan a birthday party for a 7-year-old”).
  • Files and Media: Any calendars, lists, or documents you explicitly upload to the Service.

Note on Children: We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). All data regarding children is collected from the parent/guardian for the purpose of family management.


3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to operate the Zua service. We use your information to:

  • Process your commands and queries via our AI engine.
  • Manage family schedules, reminders, and lists as requested.
  • Authenticate your access to the web and mobile apps.
  • Provide customer support.

What We DO NOT Do:

  • No Advertising: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to advertisers.
  • No Data Brokering: We do not share your family profiles with third parties for their own use.
  • No Public Model Training: We do not use your private family conversations to train public-facing AI models. Your data remains isolated to your instance of the assistant.

4. Data Storage and Location

We respect the data sovereignty of our users. We utilize enterprise-grade cloud servers (e.g., AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) with strict geographic isolation.

  • For Users in the United States: Your data is stored and processed exclusively on servers located within the United States.
  • For Users in the European Union/UK: Your data is stored and processed exclusively on servers located within the European Union.

5. User Control and Data Retention

We have built Zua to give parents full authority over their data lifecycle.

A. Granular Deletion

You do not have to delete your entire account to remove data. You can view your history and:

  • Delete specific AI conversations.
  • Remove specific family member profiles.
  • Clear specific uploaded documents.
  • Once deleted, this data is immediately removed from our active servers.

B. Custom Retention Policies

By default, we retain data only as long as your account is active. However, in your Settings, you can apply a custom retention policy (e.g., “Auto-delete conversation history older than 30 days”).

C. Account Termination

If you choose to delete your Zua account, all personal data associated with your family is permanently erased from our servers within 30 days.


6. Security

We take the security of your family’s data seriously. We implement:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (using TLS/SSL) and at rest (using AES-256 standard).
  • Access Controls: Strict internal access controls ensure that Zua employees cannot access your private family data unless explicitly authorized by you for support purposes.

7. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you have specific rights regarding your data:

  • The Right to Access: You can request a copy of all data Zua holds about you.
  • The Right to Rectification: You can correct inaccurate information via the app settings.
  • The Right to Erasure (“Right to be Forgotten”): You can request full deletion of your data.
  • The Right to Data Portability: You can download your data in a machine-readable format.

8. Third-Party Service Providers

We may use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate the app (such as cloud hosting or notification services). These providers:

  • Are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Are strictly prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.
  • Must adhere to the same regional storage requirements (US vs EU) outlined in this policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email before the changes take effect.
